At Risk and Doubly-Traumatized

While anybody can be a victim of sexual violence, members of certain groups are especially at risk. For a variety of reasons, these groups are at higher risk for becoming victims, are more likely to experience repeated acts of sexual violence, and may also have a harder time accessing help and pursuing justice following a rape, assault, or other sexually violent crime. We invite you to look over the pages in this section whether you, yourself identify as a member of one or more groups, or whether you are here to learn more for a loved one or for yourself. This list, which includes statistics from both the US and Canada,  is not comprehensive. If you don’t find yourself in these pages and think we should add a section that reflects your experiences, we encourage you to contact us here.

You will find, on all of these pages, a variety of statistics. These statistics often vary, sometimes slightly, and sometimes significantly. We have included these seemingly contradictory statistics, all taken from highly reliable sources, to highlight the challenge of collecting accurate statistics about sexual violence and the lack of resaerch surrounding the experiences of many groups.
