Mission, Vision & Values

Our Mission Statement

Survivors to Superheroes is a nonprofit organization that fights for young people who have been affected by sexual violence. We support survivors of all backgrounds and their loved ones through advocacy and creating original content and educational resources. Survivors to Superheroes is dedicated to empowering survivors by providing a platform through which they can share their own stories, have their voices heard, and transform into superheroes.

Our Vision

Survivors to Superheroes imagines a future where every child, teen, and young adult is safe from all forms of sexual violence, and where no young person will live with the emotional and physical devastation of rape, sexual assault, and other sexually violent experiences. We envision a world where sexual awakening takes place in healthy, consensual ways, and where educational and cultural representations of sex support violence-free sexual interactions.

Statement of Ideals

Survivors to Superheroes supports multiple social issues adjacent to our mission statement. Our Organization is in support of reproductive freedom and consensual sex work. We support survivors who seek legal action after a violent sexual encounter and also support survivors who do not involve the legal system. That being said, we firmly believe that the ways survivors are treated by the police, and the judicial system as a whole, are unjust and can do further damage. Survivors to Superheroes advocates for an equitable, fair, and safe justice system on behalf of all survivors, and especially those who are systematically oppressed and unable to get the help that they need. We stand with survivors who have been disproportionately affected by sexual violence due to their race, sexual orientation, gender, disabilities, religion, health status, or economic background. Intersectionality is a key component to a survivor’s history and we aim to encompass that with our ideals.
