Join Our Team

Survivors to Superheroes is always looking for new team members! We are an organization (currently working on securing our non-profit status) that fights for young people who have been affected by sexual violence. We break the stigmas surrounding sexual violence by giving survivors a voice, while providing support and education to survivors and their loved ones. We are currently seeking volunteers for the following positions. Survivors are particularly encouraged to apply.

Political Activism Team

All of the positions on the Political Activism Team are voting members. We are currently in the process of creating a new branch of Survivors to Superheroes and need help! If you are passionate about social justice, activism, organizing, and politics this would be a great fit for you. Initially, you will be working with our President to craft a vision for this branch, and will then get the opportunity to carry this vision out.

Education Team

All of the positions on the Education Team are voting members. Working on this team is a great fit for education, psychology, or writing majors, but we’re open to working with anybody who is passionate about fighting sexual violence through education. The secretary position in particular can be filled by anyone who is organized and passionate about making a difference in the lives of survivors and society as a whole! The education team mainly meets biweekly, but sometimes more frequently.

Literary Journal Team

All of these positions are voting members of the team, and all help make decisions together about submissions and the course of action for the journal. You are a great fit for these jobs if you love reading, have a passion for literature and art, and want to help people heal through creative expression. The secretary position can be filled by anyone who is organized and passionate about making a difference in the lives of survivors and society as a whole! The Literary Journal Team meets biweekly.

Staff Leadership Positions

Staff leadership positions are held by team members who primarily work on their own projects, or help oversee projects. The staff members who hold leadership positions are required to attend online one hour staff meetings once a month. Staff members who hold leadership positions may also be asked to attend board meetings and other team meetings as necessary.

Staff Positions

Staff positions are held by team members who primarily work on supporting the production of a larger project. Staff members report directly to a member of the S2S team who holds a leadership position, and often have to attend one or two meetings a month with other teams or staff members

Political Activism Team Member

If you want to help make a difference in the world of sexual violence advocacy through politics, activism and social justice, this position might be a good fit for you! Help us design a new team and branch of the organization so that together we can fight for the rights of young survivors, and against the oppressive systems that enable sexual violence.

Secretary of the Education Team

The Secretary of the Education Team is responsible for taking and maintaining minutes for the Education Team. Other responsibilities include keeping track of all documents and keeping the Google Drive neat and organized. Last, we will be asking program participants to give us feedback after each event, and the Secretary will be responsible for keeping track of and recording these responses.

Education Team Members

If you want to work on the education team, but are not interested in a leadership position, you can work with us as a team member. Over the coming months, we will be designing and piloting a curriculum for educators who work with teens and young adults. Team members are staff who will work with us to develop and implement the programming and curriculum, as well as help set the intention and purpose for the team.

Secretary of the Literary Journal

The Secretary of the Literary Journal is responsible for taking and maintaining minutes for the Literary Journal Team. Other responsibilities include keeping track of all documents and keeping the Google Drive neat and organized. The Secretary is also in charge of keeping track of submissions received, as well as the decisions made by the team regarding each submission.

Head of Graphic Design

Our team needs an experienced graphic designer or graphic design student to manage our graphic design throughout the organization. This position works with the Board of Directors and staff members in order to oversee, create, and maintain the branding and all visual design elements of our organization. Projects include, but are not limited to promotional materials, the Survivors to Superheroes website, and the Literary Journal. We will also be bringing in more graphic design team members as needed, and it will be the responsibility of the Head of Graphic Design to oversee these team members.

Research Team Member

We are looking for a Research Team Member who will help assist both the Director of Research and the Vice President of Legal Affairs. The Research Team Members will help research and write up materials for our website as part of long-term research projects assigned by the Board of Directors, as well research laws surrounding non-profit compliance in the United States and Canada. This position requires a time commitment of about 2-4 hours a week, and this person will attend no more than one research team meeting a month as necessary. You might be a good fit for this position if you are a student studying law, political science, public policy, economics, or any other related disciplines. Previous research experience is an asset, but not required.

Marketing Team Members

Since launching Survivors to Superheroes, our organization has grown massively! It is important that we keep up this growth rate so that we can help as many survivors of sexual violence as possible, which is why we need to grow our marketing and outreach team. We are looking for Marketing Team Members who will be responsible for assisting the Director of Marketing and Outreach in devising and carrying out marketing plans, reaching out to other organizations and individuals, and spreading our mission. You might be a great fit for this position if you have prior experience in marketing, advertising, or social media.

Content Creators

Our team of content creators write content for our website and online platforms, including articles, blog posts, and webpages. Content creators work on both assigned articles and web content, as well as individual projects that grow out of their own stories and interests.

Social Media Team Member

We are looking for a member of our social media team who is able to create daily posts for the organization. These will include sharing articles from our content team, sharing resources, and sharing content from our website, as well as creating original posts that further the mission of S2S. This team member will work directly with the Director of Social Media to maintain an active social media presence for the organization.
